Haneul Park 하늘공원

Once a landfill site between 1978 and 1993. Luckily for the Landfill Recovery Program, which began in 1996, we are able to enjoy the wonderful scenery now!

The best time to come will be in Summer or Autumn, where all the flowers are blooming. Haneul Park is also famous for its Seoul Eulalia Festival 서울억새축제, which happens around early to mid October every year.

Made up of 5 parts; Pyounghwa Park, Haneul Park, Noeul Park, Nanjicheon Park and Nanji Hangang Park.
2 things to prepare before you set off for your trip to Haneul Park: camera with enough memory and strong legs! Camera cause you'll definitely take a lot, and I mean A LOT of photos. Strong legs.. well you'll be greeted by this signage before the flowers.
Nope, the focus is not on the bridge but on what's behind the bridge! All those little flags and the 291 steps of stairs!
Mid-way up the stairs, we are already greeted with awesome views. Sadly, the cloudy sky wasn't helping much.
WE FINALLY REACHED!!!!!
I have no idea what these flowers are called. Other than roses, orchids, lavenders and sunflower, I don't know the rest of the flowers. We spent quite some time taking photos with these flowers. hehe. So by the time we proceed on, it was already turning dark.
Yes, we went in quite late. It is better to go during late afternoon, where the sun is still high up with the sunlight shining on the Eulalia a.k.a. silver grass. The sunset is pretty stunning too as I've seen from some photos. Remember to stay till night fall cause the night view is equally enchanting. Enough talking and more photos now...
Apology for the lousy quality due to the lack of lightings and all the photos were taken by my Samsung S6. Not that Samsung S6 is not good but a camera will definitely be better.
Oh! Remember to bring a friend along if you're trying to take some pretty photos with your face in it. Cause your friends will be able to help you with the lighting using the flashlight function in their phone.

See the difference?? That's what friends are for. hahaha. Apology again for my cmi face cause I was super tired by the time this photo was taken.
Remember the 291 steps of stairs? The way down is a breeze with a view now.

We came across a food market on our way back to catch the bus. Not sure how much the rest cost cause I only paid for the fishes, which cost around ₩10,000 - 15,000 if I'm not wrong. The uncle gave me a few fishes more after knowing that I am a foreigner who speaks Korean. hehe.

Address
서울특별시 마포구 하늘공원로 95 (상암동)

Operational Hours
until 2200H

Direction
I took a direct bus from Ewha Dormitory to Sky Garden when I went. However, I would not recommend that route as the bus stop is a little far from the subway station.
There's 2 ways that I would recommend:
   1. Alight at World Cup Stadium Station (Line 6), Exit 1 and walk for about 10 minutes.
   2. Alight at Hapjeong Station (Line 2), Exit 2. Walk straight and catch bus 271 or 7733. Alight at World Cup Park Entrance. Walk for about 2 minutes.

Option 1 takes slightly shorter time but longer walking distance. On the other hand, Option 2 allows you to try out Seoul's public bus system and has a shorter walking distance. Seoul's weather is excellent for a short walk. But if all the slopes and stairs tired you out, you might wanna go for Option 2 to let your legs have a little rest. You might be able to catch the stunning sunset on the way.

Okie, it doesn't look that awesome in the photo but I swear it's super awesome seeing it with my own eyes!
