To do (for FREE!!) in Seoul

Travelling is always expensive taking into consideration flight ticket, accommodation, food and entrance fee to attractions. Here is a list of attraction you may visit for free to save that few thousand won for your favourite food or a pretty dress.

1. N Seoul Tower

I need no introduction for this attraction. But before you get all excited, I wanna say that I'm not talking about the Observatory Tower but just the peak of Namsan, where all the love locks are. Beautiful pictures can be taken without going to the Observatory Tower. Normally, tourist will take the Namsan Cable Car, which costs ₩8,500 per person for a round-trip.
Instead of spending that amount, you may opt for a cheaper alternative - public transport. There's a total of 3 buses that run toward N Seoul Tower - Bus no. 02, 03, 05.

Direction: I would recommend taking either of the 3 buses available from Dongguk Univ. Station, Line 3, Exit 6. You may refer to this website for more information.
Alternatively, you may take a walk up the hill, which I definitely would not recommend unless you're a fitness freak.

Save: ₩8,500

2. Haneul Park 하늘 공원

A lesser known place amongst the tourists, but Hanuel Park is popular among the local, especially during Autumn season. Hanuel Park offers a fantastic view of the Hangang River. It's beautiful in the day and night, especially so during Sunset. The best thing - it's FREE! Well, the only catch is that you've to climb a long flight of 291-steps stair.

More information over HERE!

Direction: World Cup Stadium Station, Exit 1.

3. Parks
This options may not appeal to first-timer to Seoul, but it cane an option for those repeat travellers, or even couples looking for a relaxing date as seen from the various Korean drama. Various parks can be found in Seoul, especially along Hangang River. The ones I've been to are Yeouido Park and Seoul Forest. These places are good for slowing your pace down from all the rushing, shopping and squeezing through crowds. Avoid weekends though, as these parks will be filled with families and couples. Furthermore, if you're lucky, you'll be able to catch some cherry blossom or autumn leaves. If you're sharp enough, you'll be able to find a few #instgram_worthy shots too.

Alternatively, rent a bicycle or order some famous Korean Fried Chicken with beer and just enjoyed the breeze and chill along the riverside.

If you're at Seoul Forest, do drop by Understand Avenue for some shopping and a nice #instagram_worthy shots. Refer to the link before for more introduction:

Direction:
Seoul Forest - Seoul Forest Station, Bundang Line, Exit 3
Yeouido Park - Yeouido Station, Line 5, Exit 3

3. Cycling at Hanging River

Similarly, this options may not appeal to first-timer to Seoul. Cycling along Hangang River will provide a different view of Seoul. Personally, I've tried the one at Oksu. It's really free and the bicycles are in good condition (as seen in the photo). Just remember to bring along your ID or passport. However, do note that not all the locations mentioned are free. Some requires a minimal amount like ₩3,000 or so.
There's a few blogs that introduces cycling around Hangang River:

4. Banpo Rainbow Fountain 반포대교 달빛무지개분수

Personally, I find this attraction pretty boring and does not recommend it. But if let's say you're shopping at Express Bus Terminal Station, then you might want to drop by here for a quick look. But do remember that there's the rainbow fountain is only available during specific hours, except Winter which it does not operate.

Direction: Express Bus Terminal Station, Exit 8

5. Hanbok (Korea traditional clothing) wearing
Trying on a Hanbok is a must-do for all tourists going to Korea. Korea's Hanbok is a combination of perfect blending colours and designs. There's a few places, which allows you to try on Hanbok for free or for a minimal fee. Refer to the KTO website for more information.
Alternatively, pop by one of the Hanbok renting shop available throughout Gyeongbokgung and Insadong. Be prepared to pay somewhere along ₩15,000 - ₩20,000, but you'll have the options of prettier Hanbok and will be able to wear it out for 4 hours. Make full use of the Hanbok by visiting various palaces for free!

6. Clubbing

Most clubs along the street of Hongdae provides free entry for all guests who enter the club before 2300H. The catch is that you gotta stay inside the club until 0000H or 0030H depends on the club. Some examples are Club Cocoon, Club Aura, etc. For girls, it is much easier. There's a few times where my girlfriends and I were asked to enter a club. So we just ask "Free?". 9 out of 10 times it's free entry. But those clubs were usually really small and cigarette smoke-filled.
So if you wanna club but don't wanna spend too much, just grab the entry chop and exit once the allocated timing is up. Then, grab a bottle of soju or beer at the nearest convenience store. Alternatively, be like the locals, drop by any of the 술집(alcohol house) for a little dish and alcohol.

Direction: Hongdae Station, Exit 9
